What is lake omodeo?

Lake Omodeo (also known as Lago di Omodeo in Italian) is an artificial lake located in the central-western part of Sardinia, Italy. It was created in the 1920s by building a dam across the Tirso River, which turned a large valley into a beautiful reservoir covering 23 square kilometers with a maximum depth of around 120 meters.

The lake is an important source of water for irrigation purposes for the adjacent territories as well as the local water supply. The lake also provides opportunities for recreational activities such as fishing, boating, and swimming, and is surrounded by lush vegetation, used for hiking, bird watching, and camping.

Lake Omodeo is home to several species of fish such as the pike, carp, black bass, tench, and rainbow trout, which make it a popular fishing spot among anglers. The area around the lake is also characterized by oaks, poplars, and other mixed woods, providing habitat for various wildlife such as wild boars, foxes, rabbits, and a variety of birds.

Visitors can access the lake from the nearby towns of Bosa, Nuoro, Oristano, and Sassari, which offer a range of tourist facilities including restaurants, hotels, and camping facilities.
